Own or operate a business at the shore? Get ready for slip-and-fall accidents this summer.
Three things to do in the event of a fall (or other accident):
- Make sure to immediately complete an incident report which identifies any witnesses;
- Get various photographs of the condition which allegedly caused the fall; and
- Save any surveillance footage you have which captures the person’s whereabouts from the time they enter your business until the time they leave.
Following these simple steps will not only help your insurance carrier assess the validity of a claim but, should litigation ensue, hopefully allow you to “ride the wave” to a defense verdict at arbitration or trial.
